The name “Pass Priority” comes from the card game Magic: The Gathering. In the game, you cast spells (play cards). In certain instances, your opponent may then choose to respond to your spell with one of their own. The action of completing your sequence(s) of spells and allowing another to respond is called passing priority. It’s a bit of an obscure reference, but it is very appropriate for our show; especially since you trade turns in a conversation.
